Styling Bell Sleeves

Bell sleeves, you either hate them or you don't. We've never owned anything with bell sleeves before, so when we saw this knitted top on Oasap, we were excited to step out of our comfort zone. We didn't hesitate, ok maybe just a little, to add it to our cart. Unfortunately it's one of those things that look stunning on the model/mannequin, and just plain silly on. The sleeves are a bit too belly for our liking. Don't get us wrong, the quality of the top itself is fantastic, but we looked like ostriches wearing it. However, we did try our best to style it, pinning the sleeves back slightly for a more subtle bell sleeve.

We have to warn you though that unlike other pieces we've ordered from the site before, this particular top had an odd smell when we took it out of the packaging!

Outfit #1
The length of the top makes it perfect for bottom that sits slightly higher on the waist. The bright florals on the flip skirt do a perfect job of breaking up the black and injecting a much needed pop of colour to this outfit!

We love that this necklace is quite simple, but still packs a punch. One thing this necklace does not get cudos for is it's sturdiness. The wire on which all of the individual pieces hang off is quite soft and flexible, so you have to be careful when handling it, otherwise you'll end up with something looking more like a pile of scrap metal than a necklace.

Hello Big Bird! This is what the sleeves look like unpinned.

Outfit #2
Nothing goes with a high neck top more than a steament necklace. We love the look of worn gold jewellery against black, with the layered necklace bringing a little of complexity and boho to this outfit.

Hopefully this was a one off. It definitely hasn't turned us off experimenting with bell sleeves again in the future. Let us know if you are a fan of bell sleeves in the comments below.

Pre-fall Haul + Dresslily Review

With temperatures as high as 40 degrees Celsius this week, we know that the Australian winter is still far off. But the first rule of scouts is "always be prepared", right?! Well, at least it should be, which is why we decided to pick out a few winter staples from Dressily.

When we received our package, we were extremely excited. Imagine children ripping open presents on Christmas day, that was us! But when we finally got through the tightly packaged package, we were greeted with an overwhelming stench. You heard right, the 2 pieces we ordered smelt strangely like dust. Even after washing them, the smell still lingers.

Outfit #1

We love how preppy and girly layering a blouse under a sweater can be. And of course, you know us and our statement necklaces, this outfit would not be complete without a chain necklace.

It's safe to say that the plaid sweater was what we were most excited about, but unfortunately it fell short of our expectations. The fitting was all wrong, with the shoulders not sitting in place, and the sleeves falling short of our wrists. The sweater itself was quite stiff which made it look boxy on.

We were also unimpressed with the quality of the stitching, with messy threads hanging off all over the sweater, especially on the sleeves.

Blouse: Paper Scissors
Jeans: Jeans West

Necklace: Valleygirl

Outfit #2

This Aztec cardigan was less of a disappointment. We added a pair of hunter green loafers to give this monochrome ensemble a much needed pop of colour. With Australia's sweltering days and cool nights, a open sweater like this is perfect for throwing over a light dress. One thing we'd have to criticise is the fabric. Like the plaid sweater, this cardi is again quite stiff and not soft and woolly as you'd expect it to be.

OOTD featuring Rings & Tings

When we went out for a spot of lunch with friends, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to style our new pieces from Rings & Tings. But before we dive into the review, we wanted to empahsise that the opinions and experiences expressed in ALL our posts are honest and purely our own. If we haven't made it explicit before, while we receive some products in return for reviews we do not promise the sponsors favourable or biased posts (and this post is no different!).We hate nothing more than being lulled into a false sense of secuirty by phony reviews written by bloggers hungry for freebies. They portray the products as flawless, and nothing short of pink unicorns dancing in a field of daisies. Well rest assured, there is none of that nonsense here! We know that money doesn't grow on trees, and that we all work too hard to squander all our savings on products that fall short of the praises sung by our favourite bloggers.

Now, enough with our rambling and on to the rest of the post!

We immediately fell in love with this dainty ring the minute we set our eyes on it. A small, ok a big part of this is to do with the fact that it reminds us of the bow rings made popular by Kate Spade which we could never justify splurging on. Don't get us started on bow rings, or anything remotely related to bows for that matter! We like that the bow is smaller, and not OTT like some of the ones we've spotted.

A heads up to those thinking of purchasing this bracelet, it is a bit too big for our wrists, but other than that, we were quite impressed by its quality. Unlike other bracelets that feel like they'll give way, leaving you standing in a pool of beads, this boho-esque bracelet is quite sturdy.

Can you believe this beauty was only $4.25?!

Besides bows, our other love obsession is anything with the infity sign. What drew us to this particular one was that unlike the plain infinite rings we've seen, the rope-like effect is quite unique.
